Hello Reader, Virgin Voyages - Scarlet LadyLet me start with what Virgin Voyages is. For those who do not know them, Virgin Voyages is a relatively new cruise line who's first ship arrived in 2020. The timing may not have been great but VV is around to stay. They are currently operating three ships with a fourth to be delivered. VV is an 18 and up cruise line who's mission is to deviate from what everyone thinks of a cruise line. Drink packages are out the door, in favor of a bar tab. Their drink prices are lower than the other major cruise lines. There are no specialty dining venues, all restaurants are included in your fare. Every cabin feels like a luxury yacht cabin. Virgin Voyages wants everyone to feel like a rock star. The music is all about the ship (although not all the music is rock n roll). The spaces aboard the ships are designed around being social. They work really hard to include everyone. There are spontaneous parties / events that take over areas like a flash mob. The pajama parties by the pool, Scarlet night takes over one evening, the lighting all around the ship turns scarlet and a massive pool party keeps the ship rocking until midnight. Then they relocate the party to other venues inside. I guess they don't want to wake the neighbors on the ocean. Here are a couple of pictures from our Scarlet Night. Scarlet night is Virgin's idea of a formal night. Some wear pjs and some people were in evening gowns. It was such a fun experience. Be sure to bring something red when you sail with them, this is an experience you do not want to miss. It did not matter what you were wearing, the dance party was awesome. I saw people in formal wear splashing in the pool and enjoying the atmosphere. One other area they changed things from a normal cruise is the buffet....there is not one. Well let me try to elaborate, they have an area called the Galley. There are stations for burgers, breakfast food all day, bento boxes, noodles, sandwiches and desserts.....oh the desserts. You could go to each station and order or just sit at a table and raise your "Ahoy" flag. An attendant will come over and take your order. In the Specialty restaurants, there are some items that are an upcharge. Everything I had was very high quality....at every restaurant. You know we love cruising. Usually do not have a bad time. Everything from the initial arrival at the terminal, the cabin amenities, the food, the people, and the ship, is a top-notch experience. I would recommend Virgin Voyages to every one over the age of 18. I still love the others but this line definitely is a great party and has a lot to offer. Hello Reader, A funny thing happened to me on my last cruise. Short story is they found a bullet in my backpack. A bullet keychain I have travelled with my work backpack in the past and had no problems making it through security.
