The absolute top thing we did to save our customers money.....
Travel Insurance....yep, really...
Last year we saw 4 cruises get cancelled and 1 family trip for 3 families totaling 11 people cancelled. These clients we were able to help get 100% of their trip costs refunded. I will tell you my heart sank each time I was told of the cancellations.
They were all for unforeseen medical reasons :
- Two sisters cruising for the first time. 4 weeks before their trip, their mother has a stroke, they need to cancel to help facilitate rehab and therapy. They received 100% of their trip cost back.
- A couple cancelled a 15 day Hawaii cruise because of unscheduled surgery. 100% of their trip cost was protected because of travel insurance.
- Two couples were going to travel to Greece for a land tour and cruise. An unforeseen medical event happened and both couples received their money back.
- Three families travelling together to Cabo San Lucas had to cancel 1 week before departure when one party broke their arm tripping over an animal in the dark. Those that wanted to cancel were able to and received 100% of their money back.
- One client was not so lucky, she booked through another agency and was not offered travel insurance. Due to an unforeseen medical issue she cancelled her cruise one week before departure and LOST all her money. She is our customer now and we will make sure she is protected in the future.
Many vacations have a penalty schedule outlining a percentage that is un-refundable when in that period. Please make sure you understand what those schedules are.
None of our clients dreamed they would have to cancel their trips. I know for a fact they were all excited to be travelling. For a small cost, 5% to 10% of the total trip cost our client were protected.
Did you know that your health insurance will most likely not work in other countries? It's true!
- Please make sure you check before you travel. Call your insurance carrier and ask that specific question.
- What would happen to you if you had to go to a hospital in another country? Google it see the horror stories.
- Travel insurance is there with services to help facilitate medical care in other countries.
